the facebook phenomenon

I received a friend request today on Facebook...from my grandmother. After several years of managing to keep myself under the radar when it came to family, they've finally caught up with me. greg's parents are on facebook, and i'm fine with that, but i would neeeever let my mom add me on facebook. eeeeeew...

Jenn, I couldn't help getting stuck on your last line. You're making a declaration that you're refusing to censor yourself for the sake of family ignorance, but aren't you still censoring yourself by not telling them you're married?

not really. that's more of a decision not to hurt them if we don't have to. we got married mainly because ryan needed healthcare and i wanted him to be able to use my pass benefits...not because we just couldn't wait until our families could celebrate it with us. with all the drama surrounding his son's mother, it just wasn't the time to tell them.
