Today I managed to complete my quest to tour the perimiter of the island this year. Today was the West Island's turn;
scjody and I left at around 12:30, and arrived back home about 6 hours and 105 km later. Highlights include stumbling across a small bit of singletrack mountain biking trails (and being reminded that I sure did take my mountain tires off my bike), a quick stop at the beach in Cap St. Jacques, some nice wooded country-ish roads, and some lasagna for lunch at an almost-hilariously disorganized restaurant in St. Anne de Bellevue. There were no real mishaps, and the weather was great; a very successful trip. I didn't even start to feel too tired until a point close enough to home that my brain didn't implode.
Now I have to figure out how to top this next year; maybe I'll go completely crazy and tour the whole island in a day. Hey, I could take a page from
The Fat Cyclist's playbook and call it Ride Around Mount Royal in One Day, or RAMROD. With a name like that, how could I not do it?
