Island Successfully Toured

Today I managed to complete my quest to tour the perimiter of the island this year. Today was the West Island's turn; scjody and I left at around 12:30, and arrived back home about 6 hours and 105 km later. Highlights include stumbling across a small bit of singletrack mountain biking trails (and being reminded that I sure did take my mountain tires ( Read more... )

Congrats, sounds like a great ride. You certainly picked a good day for it.

Sadly, I've decided to follow my physiotherapist's instructions and lay off the rides of more than a few hours for now. The other option would be to pull a Landis and wear out various body parts in return for a few hours of fleeting glory, which has a certain appeal, but not enough.

A wise choice. A few hours is still a pretty sensible ride. This whole "long ride" thing is a bit of a new thing for me, really, I enjoy a good shorter ride at least as much, since I don't get so danged tired.

How is a tour of the perimeter of the island not a tour of the whole island? Maybe my French is playing tricks on me...

The key here is "in a day". This year he did the island in pieces, having done the entire perimeter over a bunch of days.

My only advice is to take the Notre Dame bike path first, then come back on Gouin. The bike path on the northeast part of Gouin is actually quite nice (unlike the bulk of the northwest part). Or find some other route instead of Notre Dame; the bike path there makes me feel very stabby.

*hugs* that's awesome! Congrats! It's a much better idea than registering for Festival de la Sante 10k run then forgetting to offer the registration to someone else cause you can't make it lol.
*superhugs*
