The below is my desired list of DVDs to own, those I consider ‘important’ for me to own. All of them I've seen, the ones in Bold I own, the others I plan on getting at some point. Please feel free to add suggestions onto the list. Films only, I'm up to speed on all the TV series I want to own (other than getting round to getting Season one of ( Read more... )

Zatoichi
Taxi (French version - the US version will be a travesty)
Taxi 2 (as good as the first)
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Seven Samurai (Akira Kurosawa)(inspiration for the magnificent seven)
Blues Brothers
Hidden Fortress (Akira Kurosawa) - inspired lucas when writing star wars for the perspective taken being that of the droids

Zatoichi: Not gotten round to seeing it yet, keep meaning to at some point. Will probably rent before buying as I heard it has a dance number? Good to get a commendation for it though.
Taxi: Have seen, I like but it's not one I'm desperate to see again and again
Princess Mononoke &Spirited Away: Not seen but need to at some point
Seven Samurai: See the list above
Blues Brothers: See above - I see vision really does go with the purchase of a BMW
Hidden Fortress: Seen but not sure I want to pay £20 for it unlike Seven Samurai etc.

"A Man Called Hero: Haven’t seen. Seen Storm Riders but haven’t seen this yet."
Very much in a similar vein to Storm Riders, but set in 1920s America.

Soulkeepers - was introduced to this film by Doonak the Destroyer the other month. It's like someone has made a film of their roleplaying group's Call of Cthulhu campaign: you can practically hear the dice rolling. Excellent post-clubbing
material.

Jaws I'll give you. Probably. As in I'd like to see it again sometime and it's definitely an excellent film that shoul dbe seen a few times. Not sure about owning it though.

Unless of course you're obsessed with sharks and giant snakes and other big toothed beasties.

You can go to your corner now.

Schindler's List: Yes, and own though I've not watched since buying, have to do that sometime soon. Not sure it's one I'd watch often though.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure: Like but not sure it's an essential.
Interview With The Vampire: Your inner goth coming out. Not an essential for me but I can see it for some people.

those I consider ‘important’ for me to own.

You don't have to watch something often for it to be excellent. I have seen it three times in five years, but it doesn't stop it being one of my favourite films.
