Hayward / East Bay Living?

Seeing as how the commute from Hayward to work (and eventually SFSU) will be shorter than living many areas on the same side of the bay, I've been ever so tentatively thinking about looking for a pad on that side of the bay ( Read more... )

Yes, the housing market is that nice over here. Alameda is more expensive, but nicer than Hayward, and closer to SF. (Oakland is not nicer.)

Craigslist is pretty much the place to go, because it's free for landlords, too.

Berkeley Munch is well-attended. Hayward, if it's still going, is Carol's munch (or was). Dunno how well-attended it is. There is at least one munch near downtown SF.

Citadel is BARTable. Berkeley munch location, less so.

I dont know your budget, but they have some nice 2 bedrooms for 1200 in Newark. Which is right across the bridge from the Penisula. I qualified for a few, and they remind me a lot of Cherrywood, but upgraded.

Carol's munch is very defunct, and even when it was running at most only had 5 people.

Hayward is a decent place to live, I see For Rent signs all along my commute from home to 580.

We're also pretty eqidistant between Citadel & Edges & Hey, you'd be closer to me & could finally come visit. :)

One odder suggestion (if you don't mind odd living arrangements) is to look on craigslist for boat rentals. :) Some people will rent out their boat (or lease to own, or sell with live-aboard slip) as a living space, and some of them are very nice. :) Something different, might be worth considering. I'm still regreting not having the funds to buy the restored Chinese Junk I saw for sale in the bay. GORGEOUS boat.
