Okay, so, I have called my dad no less than three times today just to chat, and I intend to call him at least once or twice more. I don't think he knows what to do about this, heh. Basically all I do is tell him about the class I just got out of and he uh-huhs because he's watching TV and so not listening, but it makes me feel better even if he ( Read more... )

I took a driver's course and it helped me immeasurably... of course it cost money but I learned a lot and the instructor was beyond patient and helpful.

Yeah, I've been thinking about looking in to one of those but I'm afraid I'll find them too expensive. Did you have to provide the car? That would be another issue unless I was at my dad's to do it.

It was around $1,000 and that included classroom time, a ton of driving lessons in one of their cars [including emergency manoevers] and a road-test practice and the actual road test in the car I had learned in as well. This was in Canada, although I'm sure there are tons of options like that for you as well. Good luck!

Holy shit! I think I'll put up with my dad yelling at me. That's like more than two month's rent and other living expenses O.O lol

Thanks XD

If I were ever to get my driver's license, the only reason I would enjoy driving would be because I could turn up whatever the Hell I wanted to listen to, and sing along as loud as I could. :D That (and yeah, stickers) are seriously two of the main reasons I ever thought about getting my license.

But yeah, my dad is really not good at teaching, especially if he has to zomg!explain something more than once, and he likes yelling too, so if I were ever to learn, I'd go with a sister or friend. Except now, I'm pretty sure everyone would make a big deal about it. -_-;;

Honestly? It's also Top Gear's fault. I look at some of the morons who drive on that show and I think, if those bozos can do it, so can I. Plus, they make cars seem interesting.

My dad...I don't know if it's that he's a bad teacher, it's just when I was 16 he had expectations that it would go like it did with my brothers (he actually shouted that after I hit the gas instead of the break, which crushed my poor teenage psyche somethin awful) and I was so high strung. We were not on the same page. Although a friend of mine has threatened to teach me herself once she gets her car fixed, and she's a gawdawful driver (seriously, even I know you're supposed to merge on to the turning ramp thing BEFORE the white line becomes solid, and then she blames it on the other drivers when she didn't even have a turn signal on, wtf?) but it's sweet of her to offer to force me to do it. In a way o.0

Except now, I'm pretty sure everyone would make a big deal about it. -_-;;That's exactly why I'm so eek about asking my dad to take me to the DMV, ( ... )
