We really don't have that where I grew up, but... they do pretty much everywhere else. I wasn't impressed. The Northern Water Tribe's princess was in an arranged marriage with a jerk trying to get in good with the Chief, the Earth King spent his life in his palace and was completely clueless, and the Fire Lord was the baddest dude on the planet, willing to incinerate a whole kingdom - one he already conquered, because there was still resistance.

Conclusion? Not big on the monarchy thing.

Oh, I see. [But not really.] Was this Order in charge of things?

Sort of. Of course, the crown was free to make whatever decisions he or she liked, but for major things like declarations of war they had to gain the approval of the Order first. If they ignored the decision of the Order, the Oracle Knights -the military division of the Order- had the right to intervene and nobody wants that.

Man... complicated politics are annoying. [It reminds him of their attempts at playing the game in trying to contact the Earth King.]

Seriously! We had the important plan to tell the Earth King, but could he listen to us? Noooo. Three month waiting period. We had to storm his castle and take out his guards just to tell him how to win the war.

[And but 'we', he means Aang, Katara, and Toph. Sokka didn't do anything except for all the talking at the end.]

Haha; yeah, definitely sounds like puffed-up royalty to me.
