It's funny, but when I'm playing a role playing game, I hate to attack peaceful people and creatures. I never play chaotic evil characters. Yet the entire reason I love Grand Theft Auto is because it's too much fun to beat up old ladies and steal their cars.

I guess it's all about questing purpose. GTA exists solely for the purpose of beating up old ladies and running down pedestrians. RPGs give you choices and consequences.

This is true. GTA and Overlord are two of the funnest games (or franchises) in existence for that very reason: no moral ambiguity at all. You are strictly playing them because it's fun to have no restraint whatsoever; you are free to smack that ho and have your underlings devour those innocent townsfolk, and indeed, you will benefit thereby.

And chuckle gleefully while you do it.
