Today's ODNB Life of the Day is Herbert Hensley Henson, Bishop of Durham 1920-1939, and Howatch's model for Alex Jardine. Very interesting about things like his passionate support for and then repudiation of church establishment, and hatred of trade unions (in Durham in the 20s & 30s...).
