the adapter is a usb-to-rs232. my haltech engine computer is programmable through a laptop. but my laptop didnt have an rs232 on it.
yes, you can get a haltech ecu for your caprice but you would also have to get a fuel injection system and some sensors. it might run you a bit of money... like 2 grand.
speaking of which, i'm not sure if you've been following the ordeals of my car, but there's been a fair amount of confusion. i'm still getting the occasional lean exhaust condition and the computer's refusing to go into closed loop. putting in new injectors did help somewhat, but it didn't clear the problems. right now, i'm really at a loss as to what's wrong with it.
the other day at school there was this loud noise that sounded like a big desk being dragged across a floor - this deep rumbling noise. and thats what i thought it was - but then our teacher was like, oh, that's the car. :)
the auto course apparantly gets to use a pace car and a drag racer. :) thought you might like to know.
