if it bites; [ The Sanctuary had been receiving the information on the attacks for weeks. Vampires, things that were supposed to be extinct but that wasn't just it. Monsters. Her mother hadn't appreciated it when she'd called them that, and normally Ashley wouldn't, but giving the brutality of these attacks? To her it warrented the term.
Helen had been tied up with other Sanctuary affairs so Ashley had gone alone, planning on meeting up with a team from the New York Sanctuary when she'd reached Mystic Falls. Except that the team hadn't shown and she'd had no success in contacting them. The Sanctuary had sent them but something had happened. She'd kept her gun tucked away, wanting to try and 'blend in' a little as she walked through the town. She was alert and prepared, but she wouldn't get anywhere if she questioned people at gunpoint, she knew that much ]

[ some of the happenings had been vampire-caused. most had not. that didn't mean lexi was going to sit back and let it all happen. the latest group of newcomers had been wiped out in a matter of minutes. she blamed the hybrid and his gang of monsters. currently, she was helping stefan and damon track the stupid things, wanting to get rid of them before anything else happened.
that meant every single new person to mystic falls got a one-way ticket to being tailed. the blonde was given to lexi. she kept to the shadows, always being a street or two away, far enough to not be spotted easily, but close enough that she could see and smell the girl. human. that much she could tell. the thing tailing both of them? decidedly not.
lexi abandoned her post in favor of quietly taking out the monster she'd seen in the trees, and hoped the blonde would still be there when she got back. likely not, but she could hope. what she wouldn't expect would be for someone to have heard or seen her. ]
[ Ashley had noticed Lexi not long after she'd started following her. Not noticed, exactly, but she'd had the sense of someone following her. It was something that she'd gotten good at being a hunter, picking up things that people tried to hide - she always had her guard up and was always looking for things out of the ordinary, and considering that this entire situation was that? She'd noticed.
Ashley in fact had been there, but she'd turned. Turned tail, gun out and was pointed at her. She'd followed Lexi when she'd taken off, wondering if whatever she was doing (and why she was following her) had had anything to do with the attacks or missing team. Given what she'd seen? She was guessing so, and she wasn't taken any precautions ]
[ lexi heard the girl's approach, knew there was a gun involved, and still didn't turn in a rush. that would just get her shot. besides, she'd been shot before. a few more times wouldn't kill her. ]
Thanks. You know, you're sharp for a human.
[ because she could smell that human blood. making sure the body was at least temporarily out of sight, she turned to face the girl. ]
You're also not a native of Mystic Falls. Mind if I ask what you're doing here?
Thanks. [ What? She wasn't always modest, besides saying that gave less away than anything else ]
Came for the sights. Know of any?
[ Because even with a gun pointed at her, regardless of whether the woman appeared to be afraid or not, she wasn't exactly going to tell her. That wasn't what they did ]

[ two could play this game. lexi was eyeballing the gun. getting shot wouldn't kill her, but it would certainly sting. ]

Lead the way.
[ And that would be her gun lowering and going away, for now - her hands were staying in close proximity ]

If this is what you're looking for, so am I. They're tricky, like to play dead a lot so you'll let your guard down.
[ and she was eying this one again to be sure it wasn't pulling that. ]
