If I try to send the money back, it'll be taken as a payment and I'll start getting billed for my loans.

I don't think that's how it works. At least, that's not how it happened with me. That happened to me once, and I payed it back. Also, I pay a little of my student loans every once in a while if I have a little extra money, and they still don't bill me, as I haven't graduated yet.

I talked to my financial counselor some time back about student loans, but I'll definitely get back in touch with her again. I would much rather give them the money back so I don't have to pay it plus interest later. I'll ask them if it's cool to do payments.
