This week's comic spotlight over on Geek Dad features
The New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman and George Perez.
I was inspired to go old school because the youngest minion read Volumes one and two of the archive editions this weekend and loved them.
One of my all-time favorites.
So what's your favorite comics run?

1. Chuck Dixon's Robin. While Chuck had several pencillers during his time as writer those 3 mini-series and 99 on-going issues (I think Ed Brubaker did 1 issue during Officer Down because editorial was stupidly mucking around with the creative teams on all the Bat-books for that crossover) define Tim Drake so much that no one else has come close to doing it as well. It's a shame his return was cut short.
2. Chuck, Scott McDaniel and Greg Land's Nightwing. Again, we're talking a definitive version of a character. And while the art styles of Scott and Greg are drastically different the shift didn't seem as jarring because Chuck's writing didn't change.
3. Chuck's Birds of Prey. I absolutely loved Chuck's BOP, from the initial one-shots and mini to the on-going. I loved how he used them to explore underused aspects of the DCU. I know some people had issues with a few of his arcs/plots but I was rarely disappointed with it. Greg Land did some fantastic artwork ( ... )

I think Robin is his best run. It had the most character development and the best writing, though I like Nightwing a ton as well. And his BoP got me back into comics.
I think Gail's OYL on the Birds suffered a bit from editorial fiddling about where the story direction would go, especially in taking Dinah away from the series. It was hard to keep the right dynamic without the peacemaker between Babs & Helena around. Plus, I think of all the characters, the one she wrote best was Dinah. Whereas I think Chuck wrote Babs the best.

My very first graphic novel and actual comic, a series I grew up with. It was thanks to the Birds that I ever became as involved as I am now with comics. Thank you Gail and Chuck!

Kind of a cliche answer, but c'mon, that series is basically the White Album of modern comics.

And to this day, that remains the only comic run my literary fiction loving husband will read. :)
