So many things I want to check out here. Sense of the Sleight of Hand Man has been on my want list for months, and Eternal Lies sounds like it's worth a look too. And Hillfolk and 13th Age really spark my interest. So many fab books and so little time!
Is Pathfinder really that popular that it's bound to sweep the floor in every category it's in? I don't think I've even opened a Pathfinder book. My impression was always that it's basically D&D 3.5 for people who didn't want to move to 4th Edition, and 3.5 was already way too rules heavy for my comfort. I get confused by that many numbers XD
5 is winning back D&D players in large numbers. Most people I speak to on DDO didn't go to 4, having looked at it, and having seen 5 are intending to move to that. Of course, Pathfinder might have blown D&D out of the water in sales since 4th, but I suspect in actual gameplay, 3.5 is still the behemoth in the room, just nobody is buying it because it's not for sale. Many of those that have been playing 3.5 for the last few years are moving to 5.
That seems to be what I'm hearing too. 5 is certainly getting very positive reviews, not only in terms of game rules but also in how Wizards are managing the release. However, I think Pathfinder has taken over from 3.5. While there are plenty of 3.5 players out there I think most may well have gone to Pathfinder as its essentially 3.7. I've not heard of 3.5 books becoming sought after products. So I think certainly the gamers who buy regularly, the sort of gamer 'early adopters' have moved to Pathfinder.
