spencer reid (criminal minds) // good literature copperiisulfate June 5 2010, 08:14:03 UTC
[prompt was: anything with Reid & something with literature]

He runs a finger along the spine of Ulysses. He can read it under twenty minutes and has done so, thrice now, but he smiles at the thought of it in conjunction with remembering the last time he'd seen his mother. She'd told him she'd met James Joyce at a tea shop the previous week and that he was quite the conversationalist, would you believe it dear? Spencer had smiled and reached for Dubliners on her bedside shelf, had said, "let me read to you, just one story," when she'd batted his hand away and then clutched it tight.
"Don't be silly. I want to hear your stories. My boy, the superhero. So tell me all about it."
And as far as Diana Reid went, it was not exactly a bad day.

Today, she's asleep when he comes in, with Anna Karenina spread open across her chest.
He lifts it gently, careful not to wake her. He's never entirely gotten used to reading out loud, especially at this pace, but he lowers his voice and begins at the start:

"All happy families are alike; each ( ... )

merlin+morgana // and they all fall down copperiisulfate June 5 2010, 08:46:02 UTC
[prompt was: Merlin & Morgana - and they all fall down]

"It doesn't have to end like this," he says softly, magic humming under his skin, the gold of it in his eyes and pulsing in his blood. "I don't want to fight you."
"Did you not try to murder me?" she asks, wild-eyed, fingertips charred with magic of the darkest kind, "And then hold me in your arms as you waited out my death?"
The broad ring of rubble around them was once the castle's keep, the tallest tower seen from miles away. Back in the day, it had been Uther's pride, Camelot's.
"I don't expect you to forgive me," the pain is written in his eyes and the apology is clear on his face, "but you left me no choice. You betrayed us, all for the sake of hatred."
"There is always a choice, and you chose to betray your kin. All of it for what? An allegiance to your beloved prince? This is the price, Merlin. The only way it can ever end."
Her irises glimmer red then gold as she hisses words foreign to his tongue: altaué aetlaetnesHe senses rather than hears the spell, and it is magic ( ... )

tamaki/haruhi (ouran host club) // haruhi in the host club copperiisulfate June 5 2010, 08:49:58 UTC
[prompt: tama/haru; tamaki is a real host!]

Her friends in law school are always badgering her about going out more, and since they've all finished up with the term not five hours ago, she thinks, oh, what the hell, and figures there's no harm in a night out with the girls. That is, until they wind up in Shinjuku's nightclub district, and before she knows it, she's being dragged into the nearest host club ( ... )

taichi/koushirou (digimon) // parachutes copperiisulfate June 5 2010, 08:51:49 UTC
[prompt was: taichi/koushirou - parachutes]

you ask him if that pocket telescope of his is actually good for anything and he swears that it's the greatest thing ever and that it has saved all their lives more times than you would probably believe. you roll your eyes and think he can't possibly be serious.
off in the distance, there are dots of colour in the sky.
"tell me, what's that then?"
"kites," he says, one eye all scrunched up. "big funny-shaped ones." but it's not windy at all and you figure you should probably point that out. instead, you take it from his hand.
"parachutes," you say, and you think, i could probably find you one that's better. build one even. give me a week. it'd be a little bigger maybe.
"see? it totally works!"
and you shake your head and go back to the logical world of your tiny computer screen, a world in which people don't prove a point by lying to you to with their infectious grins (and a world in which you don't secretly enjoy it either).
