Im sure you all know that I simply don't post here very often. But once in a while I will run across something so important that it simply needs to be shared.

Today while checking the website of one of my favorite artists I ran across an important piece of news. Now I couldn't find a direct link to the story so if any of you come back later I ( Read more... )

The mind boggles.

(I remember happening across the show and finding it oddly mesmerizing. Very relaxing to watch, though I couldn't imagine actually painting anything.)

oh no doubt about that... watching Bob Ross is like a zen experience. I can be totally sucked into his show, just sitting there, listening to his soft spoken phrases about happy little trees and pretty little mountains.

I always loved that.

Or... you could actually go out and paint something. I'm sorry, but this just sounds retarded... I'm all for Dance Dance Revolution keeping childhood obesity rates down as a substitute for actual sports and exercise, but painting is really not that hard, folks... certainly not so difficult that you need to buy a video game to do it... :/

I dont know... is it really any worse than a sports game?

Personally, the only reason I am really interested (other than the novelty of a Bob Ross game) is to see what they do with the interface. Given the unusual input devices Nintendo is putting out, im excited to see what kind of stuff game developers come up with for it.

Im so sick of traditional games.

Mind you, I learned how to paint by watching Bob Ross on PBS (we called him the Painting Guy) and the reality of the happy tree is "Fuck! I made a compositional mistake, lets cover it with a big ass tree"

Seems like this company is trying to target that part of society who are not into first person shooters or rpg games. Painting on a computer is not the same as painting in the RW.

While painting is easy for me, there are some folks out there who are making ugly ass paintings. Art is subjective, however, so what I think is crap, someone else thinks is gold.

This is the real reason I am actually interested in this. I mean, I've been playing FPS games since Wolf 3D. Sure the graphics keep getting better and better, but even when playing the latest quake I sill expect to turn a corner and hear "Achtung!"

There just isn't anything new there.

I know a few people with the Nintendo DS right now and some of the games for that system are unlike anything else out there. The interface is new and different and I find that compelling. I cant wait to get my hand on a Revolution and see what kind of games people make for that new input device. "Star wars: Light-saber Duel" here I come!
