As always, thank you for sharing your experiences. This is the first SPN-related thing that I really felt that urge to buy a plane ticket for.

I've been thinking the same thing about Danneel - not that I know first hand that she's awesome - but wondering why fandom loves Sandy and acts like they can't even remember Danneel's name. I get that Sandy's been around longer and she has such an adorable presence, but I just find it curious.

Good point; I have a theory. One, Jensen doesn't usually talk about Danneel publicly (whereas Jared is all THAT'S MY GIRL! every chance he gets, and it's hard not to like someone whom he is so obviously head-over-heels in love with). Jensen is more private and will acknowledge that he's in a relationship, but he usually just says "she's an actress" or whatever and doesn't mention her name. So fandom fills in the gaps with the only stuff they know about Danneel -- the characters she's played in One Tree Hill and Ten Inch Hero (both of whom had varying degrees of bitch/slut characterization) or the images she's presented in magazines, etc.

It's not fair, but I think it's what's happening, at least in part.

That makes sense. It must be the reason, too, why in fic, Sandy is the big obstacle to Jared and Jensen's Big Gay Love, but Danneel is kind of incidental.

Heheheh. Okay, I'm going to play devil's advocate a little here for fandom, even knowing that you guys know and like Daneel. Since I haven't met her, I think I can see it from a slightly different angle

I have to tell you, the only panel I now kind of wish I'd attended is Sandy's. She's cuter than cute, and seems so genuine. It's impossible not to be charmed by her. I hope she and Jared are married forever and ever and have a bazillion babies (and raise them far, far from Hollywood).

I wish fandom would show that kind of welcome to Danneel, who I think is awesome.

Seconded. This fangirl haterade thing is really getting old.
