Apart from the constant diet talk being one of the most boring things on the planet to have to listen to, it's also something that makes me really angry.

There's a multi billion dollar diet industry making money hand over fist out of female misery. Feeding that misery constantly with 'quick fixes' and airbrushed images of women with a particular body type. The idea that your body, whatever shape or size it happens to be is imperfect, that it needs improvement, that you should never be confident or happy with it unless you meet someone else's impossible ideals, is EVERYWHERE. You can't escape it.

Feed that to young women, destroy their confidence in their own flesh early on and you can sell them anything. Supplements, stupid diets, diet plans, uncomfortable ridiculous body shaping clothing, gym memberships, low calorie food, plastic surgery, clothes, make up, cosmetics. The list is endless.

It's all about money. Misery is lucrative. It makes me so sick!

I was going to mention the exercise myths! Toning, spot reduction and bulking up! Tiny pink barbells. Gah.

I do Body Pump - it's awesome!

I joined a gym to get fitter. I have lost weight, but that wasn't my main aim. I wanted to feel healthier. I tried Body Pump because I went through a bunch of classes to find ones I enjoyed - and to my surprise discovered I enjoy heaving weights about to music. I now go two - three times a week; along with pilates, zumba and body balance.

Oh and I've changed shape and I now have muscles visible in my arms and legs. And it's fabulous.

I admit I want to get rid of the flab around my stomach - but I'm more interested in the fact that I can lift heavier shopping,
