Piper's Room at the Hyperion,Thursday

Avoidance seemed to be the only way Piper had been dealing. Avoidance also led her to feeling more miserable. She hardly left her room except for work and classes. She had not spoken to Lindsey or Veronica lately, and she was starting to realize how much she missed them both. Kind of a lot ( Read more... )

Veronica was trying to decide what to wear for Dick's birthday dinner when she got the text.

It made her frown because she missed Piper too. But she was afraid her best friend might not be able to handle seeing her after what happened.

The text made her realize that maybe she was wrong, so she decided to head to Piper's room.

She hesitated outside the door for a few moments before knocking.

Piper had been lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling, when she heard the knocking. She figured it was probably Phoebe stopping by to check on her. She was surprised to see her best friend standing there instead.

Though she was glad to see her, she wasn't quite sure what to say just yet. She settled for a simple, "Hey."

"Hey," Veronica said, her expression hopeful despite her uncertain tone. "I got your text."

"I meant what I said," Piper told her. "It's good to see you."

Lindsey picked up his phone after it beeped, read the message, and then stared suspiciously at the date for a minute.

After staring at the date he realized the amount of time that had elapsed since he fled the Hyperion. And then he realized it had been a completely unacceptable length of time since he last spoke with his girlfriend. Assuming she was still his girlfriend after the debauchery that had occurred.

Eventually he decided to suck it up and call. Ring ring.

Piper stared at the called I.D. for a moment, surprised at who was calling. Surprised only because it has been so long. She didn't realize for a moment that she had let it ring a few times before she finally answered. "Hey."

"Uh, hi," Lindsey said, a little surprised she'd actually answered. "Did you, uh, want to talk?" Or kill him? Slowly? But he wasn't going to put that idea into her head if it wasn't already there.

"I guess we should," Piper replied. "We can't keep avoiding each other."

Killing was actually not on her agenda.
