Grams handed Piper a silver chain, from which dangled a long, pointed crystal. "Scrying is easier when you have something that belongs to the person you are looking for," she said. "But we'll start small for now."

She indicated the map of San Francisco she had spread out on a table in the attic. "Hold the crystal over the map and swing it in a slow circle," she said. "Then try to clear your mind and think of the person you are trying to find. Think about Andy and see if you can get the crystal to tell you where he is."

Piper started to swing the chain over the map and thought about Andy like Grams suggested. After a few seconds, the crystal landed on the map. "Apparently, he's somewhere in Golden Gate Park."
