Ham and bean soup?

I'm just tinkering around the house today, and it's getting cold - I want some soup! I have some smoked ham leftovers that I need to use up, so I was thinking some ham and bean soup would be yummy. I love making soups with ham and beans. These 3 versions are all ones I've made myself.

You can add ham to this kale and white bean soup if you want.

This one is a 'red' version because it uses tomatoes.

And, of course, the classic version but using a smoked ham hock instead of the ham and leftover ham bone.

White beans and ham are a great combo! I'd saute some onions and garlic, maybe also some carrots and fennel or celery if you have it, and then throw it all in a pot with some good stock and herbes de provence and let it cook for a while to get the flavors to meld. You could also add some wine or beer for an extra zing. :)

I use this one...it's pretty good. I used dried but canned would be ok too (just modify the cooking time ( ... )
