Last week I got my 5 quart oval crock pot or slow cooker what ever you want to call it. The first thing I made was Salisbury steak using pounded steaks. I seasoned with garlic powder and browned the steak.( Read more... )
I just made an awesome Pork Butt Shoulder. It's pretty cheap per pound at the grocery store. I ended up cooking an 8 lb pork butt. I took the roast, salt and peppered it. I browned the roast on all sides first. I let the roast cool slightly (enough to handle) and then put a rub on it, which consisted of coriander, cumin, adobo seasoning, garlic, and cayenne. I roughly sliced up an onion and put it at the bottom of the crockpot. Placed the pork butt on top of onions, then I grabbed some of my homemade chicken broth (I keep several tupperwares of broth in the freezer). I poured the liquid in so it came to just about half the height of the roast, then closed it up and put it on low for 10 hours. 10 hours later I took it out and threw it into the oven under the broiler (I could've not done this and been okay)... Basically just wanted the fat to be crispy.
Succulent pulled pork. :) I have a stupid amount of leftovers (there's only two of us in the house)... but I'm excited to make tacos, white bean chili and sandwiches. :)
I make TV dinners with left overs and eat it for lunch. I freeze it in TV dinner trays and then a half hour or so in the oven or a few minutes in the microwave (the trays are some type of plastic that can go in the oven or be microwaved.

Other than that it tasted good but too runny. Next time I will make this when I'm home so I can monitor it.
