I finally got around to tasting a bottle of cranberry mead (truly yummy, by the way) that I was gifted with a while ago and decided I'd love to poach some pears in the mead and serve it with ice cream ( Read more... )

Cheesecake is always my go-to solution for any sort of fruit product.

Other than that, I think it would go marvellously as a baste for a rack of lamb.

Thank you. They're both great ideas unfortunately the timing is off. I've already made my yearly cheesecake (pumpkin in November) and I made a rack of lamb for Xmas dinner.

Tomorrow is going to be duck with a cherry gastrique. You can see why I'm frustrated. :)

I'm a fan of Ginger and of Marmalade, and _______.

I wonder how this would taste, on ice cream... I attempted to make a plum jam once, that never set. So, we called it a syrup and tried it on Vanilla Ice Cream. It was very good.

Cranberry Orange Jam with Crystallized Ginger

I can even see this with Rhubarb added.

Thank you. I could add a bit of orange zest and Grand Marnier to the cranberry jam that I already have above and mix it with some cake cubes for a trifle.

Add 750 ml. of vodka or brandy to your 2 c. cranberry honey syrup to make a cranberry cordial. Bottle and age 6 months to mature into a smooth liqueur that can be used in for all kinds of things.

That sounds like a great idea. thank you.

I just have to buy a bottle of vodka and find an appropriate container/s for it. I have some home made moonshine that my dad made a while back. I may try that with a cup of the syrup. Not something I've ever thought of.
