Chanukah started on Saturday night. Observed for 8 days, Chanukah celebrates the triumph of light over dark. After the Macabees defeated the Greeks and reclaimed the Holy Temple, they went to light the menorah (7 branched candelabra) and found that there was only enough oil to last for one day. The miracle of Chanukah is that the oil lasted for ( Read more... )

Oh my gosh, I was wondering what to do with my last packet of yeast and I think I know!

We made latkes last night, topped them with sour cream and masago. Mmmmmm.

Happy Chanukah. Love the donuts especially raspberry filled ones. How big do you cut your donuts ... 3", 4"?

Thank you for the additional info. I like to get a sense of size, expected yield so I know if I'm doing it properly. :) My mom used to do a looser dough scoop version with raisins stirred in, sort of like free form fritters, for us when we were craving donuts but jelly filled have always been my favourites. As I got older, I went for the Boston creams. :)

I'm surprised you don't use something like a icing gun filled with jelly and a straight nozzle to inject the donuts like you would for cream puffs. It's a snap.

If I had one I totally would. This was my first time filling anything. It didn't go too badly with a Ziploc bag but did get kind of messy towards the end.

[a high pitched squee can be heard through out the land] I've been looking for recipes like this for forever! My gran used to make a lot of stuff like this when I was a kid but sadly all her recipes disappeared some time before she died and I haven't been able to find anything close to them... Until now!
Now if you have a recipe for simple egg noodles I'd friend you for life!
