Blackcurrant jam? That must be a European thing, because here in the States, you have to hunt through specialty stores to get blackcurrant anything!

Fortunately, we do sell figs here (in the summer), so USians just need to make fig jam. :)

Oh, I see! Yes, blackcurrant is definitely more easily accessible in Europe. But there is of course no need to hunt for it where this salad is concerned. Just substitute for some other thick, sweet and a little sour jam, which is easier to get.

Making your own fig jam sounds great. I'd love to! It's not practical where I live though. Figs are sold rarely, aren't ripe and cost around 1 dollar per item :)

Oh wow, this looks unbelievably wonderful. This salad basically includes everything I love in one plate.

We can get chevre very easily here, but it's always the much softer, younger cheese. We do get President brand though, so I'll hunt around for Saint Maure or just find an artisanal cheese shop to buy some in.

Looks delicious! I love a warm goat cheese salad, but haven't had one quite like this. I did recently have "fried" goat cheese on a salad recently that was divine. The goat cheese was young, and rolled in Italian-style breadcrumbs, then somehow fried or warmed. It was placed atop a bed of dark greens dressed in some sort of fruity vinaigrette. The combination of the rich cheese with the light dressing was divine!
