Melon liquor?

So my mother and grandmother in law just got back from a vacation in Italy, and they brought me a bottle of melon liquor (crema di melone, specifically). It's orange in color, creamy and thick in texture, and smells like a sweet cantaloupe/musk melon ( Read more... )

I love that stuff with a light crisp soda like Sprite or 7-UP. It thins it out and makes it a bit more drinkable without masking the flavor a ton--actually goes quite well flavor wise. Served over ice. Our group also likes to mix them with juices like Hawaiian Punch or Sunny D when we want to go into a sugar coma :P

Ohhh, this I can do very easily, and I like the idea of lightening it up.

I've had crema di limoncello served as, basically, the dessert course for a meal. Just chilled in a cordial glass.

Keep it in the freezer for maximum delicious.

Good idea. I need to think of a new home for it if I want to keep it in the freezer though, because the threads on the bottle cap? LIES. You can twist forever but it never becomes leakproof, and the freezer isn't tall enough to keep it upright... hah!

haha oops! If you don't care about the bottle, you can probably go get something like this hermetic seal bottle ... or you can just put it in another empty vodka bottle if you have one of those.

You could look for any recipe that calls for Midori - a Japanese melon liqueur and try yours instead.

Now that is much easier to google. Thanks!

Midori isn't creamy, so your results might vary. Note that if you add citrus to drinks, your cream liquor might (probably will) curdle.
