Also, it's been a week and a half since the surgery and he's still tender, so expect it to last awhile.
Yep. I had just a back molar removed a little more than a month ago, and I still can't chew n that side of my face comfortably. The tooth area itself doesn't hurt, but the area around it is damn weird.
This. Bean and lentil soups will be soft and provide some nutrition. Also, hummus sandwiches or wraps. They may not sound good, but they are very tasty, and are soft.
When I had my tonsils out (I know, completely different thing) as well as when I had my wisdom teeth out, I ate mushy rice cooked in chicken stock. That's my comfort food. Sometimes I add mushy vegetables (like overcooked carrots).
