After I had dental surgery I ate soft-boiled/poached eggs and spoonfuls of peanut butter.

Don't forget stuff like 'Slimfast' and 'Instant Breakfast'.

yup, this. Boyfriend just got his wisdom teeth out and Boost was the brand that was recommended for him.

Also, it's been a week and a half since the surgery and he's still tender, so expect it to last awhile.

Yep. I had just a back molar removed a little more than a month ago, and I still can't chew n that side of my face comfortably. The tooth area itself doesn't hurt, but the area around it is damn weird.

Soups. Bean soups like split pea and 16 bean are good. Chicken noodle with orzo and veggies chopped small enough to just swallow.

This. Bean and lentil soups will be soft and provide some nutrition. Also, hummus sandwiches or wraps. They may not sound good, but they are very tasty, and are soft.

When I had my tonsils out (I know, completely different thing) as well as when I had my wisdom teeth out, I ate mushy rice cooked in chicken stock. That's my comfort food. Sometimes I add mushy vegetables (like overcooked carrots).
