Buy bulk potatoes, scrub well, pierce with a fork or knife, and microwave. No need for plastic at all. :)

Hmm, I have not seen these mysterious microwave baked potatoes...

However, I microwave sweet potatoes all the time. For a medium sized sweet potato, I poke it all over with a fork (that's important...), and microwave it for about 4-5 minutes on "high," turning it over once after a couple of minutes. Tasty!!

My sister and I just wash bigger potatoes and put in them in the microwave for 3-4 minutes, and up the time for a couple of minutes for more potatoes. They usually come out dry. Sometimes I stab holes in them, rub some butter, or drizzle some oil and wrap them tightly in saran wrap and stick them in the microwave for 4 minutes.

Rinse the potato, coat it with olive oil, and then put in in the microwaave.

If you microwave the potato and then put it in the oven for 10 minutes or to crisp up the skin, it will be extra awesome. xx

This - I recommend microwaving the potato until it's almost tender (say, 8 minutes depending on size?) and then sticking in the oven for 10-15 minutes on 400F/200C. Crisps up the skin and makes the inside fluffier, but is faster than a typical baked potato!

Yup! I use the toaster oven when it's hot out and I don't want to heat up the joint too much.
