Friday, Day in Pictures (Part One)

Jul 31, 2009 20:17

Friday we woke up early and drove over to the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. Again, this will only be about a quarter of the pictures. In the interest of saving your friends list page, I'll break it up into separate entries. Here is one of my favorite shots, taken by Alyssa. Looks as if if you are in the tank, swimming along side them.

At the entrance, there is a sandcastle sculpted from thousands of pounds of beach sand. It was easily six feet tall and probably eight feet wide at the base.

This next lil' guy is in the nursery/hospital area of the aquarium. He, along with three other siblings, were hatchlings born in Spring along the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Many of the fish were difficult to catch on film.

Love this photo too. He has a very menancing smile. We joke that had this been a real underwater shot, it would've probably been the last image recorded on the camera.

It's hard to appreciate how vibrant some of the fish were. Point and shoots just don't do this trip justice.
