Aoi's protecting uru in a physical sense, the way I see it. But Aoi pretty much has no "physical form". He's just visible to Uruha. So he doesn't really have anything to lose. (yet.) So for me, it's kind of like Uruha is subconsciously protecting his relationship with Aoi. He's trying to keep this little sanctuary they've created. More like protection on a deeper level.
