It's hard to explain but his persona on Scrubs is really funny and self effacing and cute. To the point that despite the fact he's really weird looking, he's also weirdly hot.
Garden state was a little bit dumb, yeah. And with the sound off (because I'm at work) the trailer makes the new one look a bit, oh, just a little too I'm-standing-in-the-rain-being-emotional.
Oh, it's so much worse with sound. You need to hear his musings on turing 30 and commitment and suchhell.
I believe you about scrubs, I've seen it like once, so I don't really know. But I believe you that his character is charming. That hardly excuses the rest of his existence.
I liked Garden State but hated the ending. If you ever do watch it, I recommend turning it off when Natalie Portman is at the airport crying. But be quick turning it off, because she doesn't get to cry for very long before the ending gets ruined.
I think he was friends with about half the bands/singers in the soundtrack, which is why he chose them for it.
THANK YOU, could not agree more about the ending. Although I also would've enjoyed the movie more if Natalie Portman had not been in it at all; I found her really awful and unlikable in it. I wonder if I could hire someone to CGI Claire Danes in her place.
F Natalie Portman. She ruins everything. Except V For Vendetta, where much to my surprise, she didn't really bother me. But don't even get me started on Close
Oh I see, this is gonna be Pink Floyd all over again. Everyone's loving on Zach "I'm fugly" Braff and his masturbatory movie. Fine. The world just hates me. My own LJ hates me.
I loved "Garden State"! Especially when I saw it the first time, when it was called "The Graduate."
Still, I do love it. And feel oddly defensive about it, since I know other people don't like it, and some people actively detest it.
I feel weird about it though, since like, half the soundtrack, I had and loved before the movie came out, and now everyone knows those songs and I no longer feel special for having this good music no one else has heard of that I can introduce them to.
I am kinda digging Xtina's transformation from Dirty Girl to Glam Girl... remeber back in the day when people wondered how Xtina could have won a Grammy award for best new artist over Britney Spears? Wow, how things have changed...

Do I ever! I must confess, back then I was among the doubters. Boy was I wrong! I thought her early stuff was boring, but then Stripped converted me. I was just saying to MNBFBW yesterday that Xtina is the Mousekateer with the best career, and she looks even better by contrast--he music gets better and better while she watches Brit n Justin fall off.

Me too, though as one her new song's explains, she is "Still Dirrty".
