This is old news, but I missed it at the time.
They germinated the seeds of a 2000 year old date palm, of a variety which had formerly been extinct! If it is a girl tree, in a couple of years, it may self-pollinate and then we can have Judean date palms again.

I'm going to do this gratitude project -- post about one thing I'm grateful for from today until the equinox. Here goes!

I'm glad I got to see Arlo Guthrie. He's an amazing storyteller, as you might expect if you've ever heard Alice's Restaurant, and also still can play touching beautiful music.

I went to the NY ren fair with folks this weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed it. No, not really, it's very cold. But it feels like spring in my soul -- I feel randomly happy and full of joy. Hooray life!

We went up skiing in Vermont with Ben this weekend. My goodness, but the mountains are bigger there than in Michigan. :)
