Wow, being called heartless, emotionless, and a Princess all in just a couple hours? That was a new one! It didn't serve to upset the girl though, instead it amused her. What sort of retard would actually believe that anyways? Obviously someone like Kiba. Glancing over the books she was balancing about twenty in one hand and flipping the books she hadn't read in the other.

She was going through this library at a relatively fast rate for how little she came here. Thank god New Utopia's library was extensive or by now she might have gotten more than a hint of cabin bookless fever back in Verity. She set the books on a near by table where a small box of strawberries and dipping chocolate sat. By now she would have made herself some strawberry ice cream...

If in the end it wouldn't give her food poisoning. Oh how she despised being a wretched cook, but even this could be called a little slice of heaven.

Especially here.

Beyond didn't understand how to waste time, it seemed, and upon reaching the library he'd made a beeline for the histories, until he noticed a face that matched a name he knew. Eve, from Verity as well, though he hadn't seen her before. The shock of blonde, though, he wouldn't forget now that he'd seen it.

He'd been hoping for only natives to be lurking the aisles of this facility so early in the day, but of course Eve would be here too, of course, because she was apparently a great reader and wrenches must be thrown in his plans' gears at all times.

Now that the girl was in front of him, however, he couldn't check his curiosity to acquaint himself with her in person, and perhaps begin networking. His own war was against L now, and he should look to connect a little more with his own assigned country's fellow conscripts. Shelving his plan to raid the place for documentation for later, he approached with an exaggeratedly cheerful demeanor.

"Half healthy -- moreso depending on the nutritional content of your chocolate."

A pause and she merely quirked a brow at him. "Cheerful, aren't we?" Well, he didn't seem the type to appear so saccharine. Of course, she wasn't the Queen of cheer so how should she know? Besides, he seemed much more serious on the networks. Of course it was such a shame his plans were ruined and they may be for some time, simply because she planned on being her for another five to six hours at the least ( ... )

"Dark chocolate, ah. Perhaps seventy-five percent healthy, then. Good choice!" His tone was clearly impressed, though that was an exaggeration as well. Since he seemed to be staying for awhile, he planted himself; his slouch deepened, one hand shoved into shallow denim pockets, the other threading slim fingers awkwardly through the back of his hair.

He'd seen a few people lacking in numbers already, but it was always a shock to him, realizing someone had no lifespan. Whether that meant they were immortal or could die at any time, he didn't know; he cared somewhat, but had more important things to worry about than his cursed vision.

His eyes scanned her face, then the stack of books on the table, taking in the titles.

Ah, a library. Cordelia felt almost guilty for spending time here, thinking she should be outside watching over her people (and anyone else who seemed to need watching over, for that matter). But even officers deserved some free time, she decided.

Upon entering the library, she headed straight for the history section as well. Expecting it to be a popular destination, she was slightly surprised there was only one other person going through the shelves at the moment. Perhaps there wasn't much to hold one's interest here after all.

"Finding anything interesting?" she called out cheerfully, naturally assuming a certain amount of goodwill between fellow readers despite the difference in ID bracelet colors.

He'd heard the approach of someone else as he skimmed the shelves, and instantly changed his mental route to take notes on what to come back and flip through. Beyond wasn't at all keen on letting others see what he personally chose to read, especially when his ultimate goal was to gain enough knowledge to surpass L as an adviser ( ... )

Cordelia wasn't a naturally suspicious person. Between that and her overall lack of familiarity with books - the libraries on her home planet dealt in electronic tapes and documents, not paper - she had no chance of noticing anything strange about Beyond's choices.

Interdimensional abduction, indeed! She laughed pleasantly at his comment, hearing but ignoring the slightly grating tone. Even if it was on purpose, there was no reason to draw attention to it. "I'm sure. I suppose my question should have been - finding anything useful?"

For her part, Cordelia started looking through the shelves on the next bookcase. She had one advantage in the search: although this was her first time in New Utopia, she'd been in the world long enough to hear of a few authors and titles considered particularly reliable or insightful. "Oh, Medwick's Origins of the War... Only the first book though - that's a pity. And here's Speculations - probably worth reading..." she kept a running commentary of her findings, mostly to herself, but keeping her voice ( ... )

One thing he didn't do was turn to look at her; Cordelia, for the moment, was immortal to him. If he could leave the library without ever seeing her death date, he'd have achieved a small victory that day. His visual focus still on the bookshelves, he paused, and his voice changed in tone: serious and soft, though even that was exaggerated. Very little of his mannerisms anymore were natural.

"Useful? That depends on who plans to utilize such information."

Mikhail was likely aware of all of this information and then some besides; it would be his job to warp the information to use in different circumstances. Would he be able to with what he was finding? He didn't think so, not yet, but he would. B was gaining enough insight on the geography of each country, he thought, to both strategize and advise. Depending on the weaponry, he would be able to tell what would fail at certain points, what would give out based on air qualities he had calculated, different materials that would be unable to work on certain types of ground. He would, ( ... )
