A pause and she merely quirked a brow at him. "Cheerful, aren't we?" Well, he didn't seem the type to appear so saccharine. Of course, she wasn't the Queen of cheer so how should she know? Besides, he seemed much more serious on the networks. Of course it was such a shame his plans were ruined and they may be for some time, simply because she planned on being her for another five to six hours at the least.

Poor B.

"It's dark chocolate." She shrugged slightly, red eyes now peering over to him. "Besides, I usually eat salads." Yes, salads were nice, and she usually had a hamburger before bed. The cooking in Verity wasn't stellar, but at least it was somewhat edible.

Now that she thought of it, his appearance was a bid odd. Disheveled attire and hair, you'd expect to be a man his age more uniform. On the other hand, she looked quite the opposite compared to him. She wore a perfectly ironed white button up shirt, black pants, and black heels. Her blonde hair was tied back into a neat pony tail. It was sort of funny, really, and for a moment she felt old.

"Dark chocolate, ah. Perhaps seventy-five percent healthy, then. Good choice!" His tone was clearly impressed, though that was an exaggeration as well. Since he seemed to be staying for awhile, he planted himself; his slouch deepened, one hand shoved into shallow denim pockets, the other threading slim fingers awkwardly through the back of his hair.

He'd seen a few people lacking in numbers already, but it was always a shock to him, realizing someone had no lifespan. Whether that meant they were immortal or could die at any time, he didn't know; he cared somewhat, but had more important things to worry about than his cursed vision.

His eyes scanned her face, then the stack of books on the table, taking in the titles.

His slouching irritated her, but that was kept behind a thick mask of indifference. Eve frowned slightly as she flipped a page of the book she was reading. Mainly, the titles that surrounded her were of history. The one in her hand was mainly about that as well. Poetry would come later, when she wasn't so pressed for time. For now she needed to keep learning all she could about this place.

"You can have a few if you'd like." It was a small attempt at being amiable and she paused awkwardly. Well, she never expected someone to be at the library so early. Hopefully it would be more peaceful later, but for now the company wasn't all that wretched.

His smile softened into a more honest one, though a slightly smug one as well. How lucky, that he wouldn't have to even go searching for texts, at least not immediately. And if he was especially lucky, she would prove perhaps a good sounding-board for observations, or provide him with any he may not have noticed.

"Really? How kind of you! Do you mind if I sit here as well?" Without waiting for an answer, he pulled out a chair opposite her and settled himself, looking somewhat awkward as he privately decided whether or not to crouch or sit comfortably. His body, however, was used to crouching in recent months, and he drew his knees up to his chest, spreading them slightly to allow himself to more easily reach forward and pluck a book from the stack.

Well, this was a bit awkward. Never before had she met a person as eccentric as him. Who asked to take a seat and decided for themselves these days? As a whole he made her feel mildly uncomfortable. His crouching reminded her of an animal rather than human. As a whole, he seemed rather foreign, and she didn't like that one bit.

Of course, she didn't exactly feel like sharing any important information with someone she didn't trust. Perhaps sharing with Big Boss, Snake, or even that sparklypants Ocelot, but not this guy. The whole time they've been talking she's been flipping the pages of the book at a rather fast rate. Boy, this one was reiterating everything the other books had said. Oh well, perhaps there will be some new things at the very least. "Just don't be irritating." She said flatly. If he proved to be obnoxious then she wouldn't mind handing his ass to him on a nice little platter.

He grinned at her statement and settled. With delicacy that was only half-exaggerated, he began sliding his fingers in between pages, seemingly only skimming them. He tried to slow his pace, reading and re-reading thrice over before turning the page. His speed-reading wasn't quite the pace he'd displayed to Naomi Misora, but it was uncommonly quick nonetheless, and he wasn't keen on showing that here.

While he was pretending to read slowly, he observed the girl in front of him, and began putting pieces together. She had struck him as a bit soft over the networks, especially her willingness to provide Mikhail with information regarding -- whoever it was that might pose a threat. Not immediately rejecting his presence just reinforced that opinion -- she reminded him somewhat of Misora in that respect, but a good deal stronger. Don't be irritating: he probably wouldn't be able to trip her up as easily, but that was fine; he didn't need to.

When his focus returned to the text in his hand, he realized he was halfway through it -- not conducive to his attempts to conceal how quickly he digested information.
