"Hey, Tongari!" Greeting Vash around a mouthful of healthy lung cancer, Wolfwood grinned across the room at his spiky haired friend. No matter how many times he saw it this morning, it still looked weird to him. Weirder still was how Vash changed topics whenever Wolfwood brought it up, but hey, they all had their secrets.
"Nah, not too long." He waved Vash over. "'Ave a seat an' help yourself. It's piss poor stuff, but they serve it free."

He smiled with a moment of nostalgia as he stared at the goofy visage of his drinking partner. Knowing Vash, the man would be lucky if it lasted a week.
The expression was hidden quickly by his mug as he took a large gulp of the drink. After a gallon of the stuff last night, he was starting to be numbed to the taste. "The place ain't so bad," he agreed, shrugging his shoulders a bit. "It's kinda like home."

But Vash's earlier statement made him mentally back up. No dangerous stuff? In a war? The needle head wasn't thinking.
He lowered his tankard back to the table. "You're no' here ta fight this time. Stick ta your mechanics an' stay outta the fightin', Tongari. Ya can' stop a war."

Hell, the war wasn't his either, and if he wasn't dragged into it by a series of shitty options, he wasn't going to fight another battle. He'll be damned if he let Vash drag himself into it when the idiot didn't have to be.
"Ya stick yer head in, they'll pro'bly make ya fight."

"It's a small place, an' half the people 'ere are batshit crazy. The other half are stir crazy." And he briefly wondered which half that placed him. "When the fightin' starts, it's gonna get ugly."
He gave several seconds for that to sink in before he switched topics. "'Ave ya met yer tent mate?"
