At the question, Wolfwood couldn't help grinning wryly.

"Met'm yesterday." He recalled thoughtfully, "The lil' bastard nearly broke my arm." Of course, he gave as good as he got too, though the kid was a fast bugger.

"Nice people they put ya up with 'ere."

"As I said, jus' like home." Wolfwood took a last drag on his cigarette and snubbed the end out on the ashtray.

At Vash, he smirked a bit.

"Doubt it. 'Aven't seen many girls 'ere... though there's a few kids runnin' around." Wolfwood emptied half of his mug.

Wolfwood answered the unasked question quietly, "Cause they don't give a damn."

He drank the rest of his beer and refilled it with the pitcher. Still holding the jar, he looked at Vash's relatively full glass.

"Wha's wrong, Tongari, you're not drinkin' your fill."

Wolfwood obligingly filled Vash's newly emptied glass.

"Don' think too much on it," he advised and proceeded to liberally drink another half pint to impede himself from doing just that. Although the pitious amount of alcohol did nothing to his system, it subconsciously bolstered him to approach other topics that they didn't discuss during the day.

Wolfwood mulled over what Livio and Vash said within the last 24 hours before phrasing his own question.

"Hey, Tongari... wha' happened ta Knives and Gunsmoke?"

"Issat so?" That was beyond what Livio told Wolfwood, not surprising considering Vash came from a year after. Yet Wolfwood had trouble imagining it. A Gunsmoke that did not have to rely on plants was unbelievable, but...

"He saved you?" That completely baffled him. "How?"
