It was getting too hard to keep things organized. I have to be careful about what I make public, especially when I criticize my department. This will become even more important in the next few years when I start TAing and trying to get published. All it takes is the wrong person reading the wrong entry to cause me a lot of grief. I think that just making everything Friends-only is the safest way for me to maintain this as a personal journal without always fretting about what I can say and who might read it.
Your silly comment on academics anon prompted me to check out your journal, which looks pretty interesting. Love those Garfield comics, I've seen that before.
In any case, I'm adding you as a friend, and won't be offended if you don't add me back. For similar reasons most of my entries are now friends-locked, so I don't know how interesting my journal will look. It is mostly random snapshots of my world (and the occassional reprint of funny entries from Overheard in NY).
