How to Succeed in Meetups Without Really Trying
Had a great weekend visit with fandom friends, both old (rhrsoulmates, mrs_bombadillunalovepotter, penny_sieve, dome36) and new (redhotwitch, hpiknut). Hurrah for fun weekends in New York!

What did you not like about the ending of Source Code? I really liked it, and how it gives you closure on one Jake's journey, but leaves you with the implication that the Jake in the parallel universe created at the moment of change is just about to start on his.

I mainly don't like the questions it brings up, namely what happened to the guy whose body he took over in the parallel universe. And what's going on with his *own* body in the parallel universe. It set up these rules only to break them in the end because, presumably, they just didn't want to leave it on the down note of Jake's character dying. I don't know, it just felt like a cheat. They go to the trouble to establish that this technology is not time travel and that he's not really affecting what happens to the people on the train only for it to turn out that - whoops, I guess it was real after all.

They actually telegraphed the ending half way through the film, when Rutledge tells Colter that it's not a time machine, and if he did manage to change anything it would at most be in a parallel universe and not exist for them ( ... )

Yeah, I had it yesterday and wow. It is amazing. And the melted butter thing--so clever! How have I not thought of that before?

I may have it again tonight. We will see.
