Another NPR piece on Breaking Bad

The journalist loved it, but was a little disappointed in the "redemption" thing.Again, I have never seen the show, so I'm only interested for theoretical reasons. I am really intrigued by the fact that everything I've read takes it as self-evident that Walt is dead in the final scene rather than surrendering. I grant that he was clearly seriously injured! But dead? I don't think that's obvious -- it was not my interpretation watching -- and I find it fascinating that I seem to be the only one.

That really is interesting? I wonder if viewers assume he's dead and his story is ended "on his own terms," and maybe feel that if he surrenders and is taken alive he really does "lose"?

I say this as someone who's never seen an episode of the show, mind. I just like the ideas that come up in discussion.
