On Friday, amidst work-related curses, I mentioned that my DVDs of the BBC production The Hollow Crown were waiting for me. Coincidentally, that was the night they began to be aired on PBS, beginning with Richard II.

It was a good Hiddles gamble, and I think it paid off.

My absolute favourite St Crispin's Day speech? The version written by Bernard Cornwell in Azincourt. BOY is that moving.

I'm just glad they decided to cast him as Henry V as well as Prince Hal--not only because he's so good in possibly the best of the history plays (or, okay, my favourite) but because it's a part so many actors would give so much to get to do!

I haven't read anything by Cornwell in years, but if that Crispin's day speech is half as moving as the one in Henry V, that's quite an accomplishment!

Well, it's largely a retelling of Shakespeare, of course, but WOW, is it efficient.
