Change in commenting policy

I didn't bother mentioning this when I wasn't posting, but I've set the comments in this journal to friends-only in the wake of a truly impressive level of spam over the past few months. I always used to screen non-friend comments and then let through anything obviously human, but the spam was such a hassle I gave up. I plan to leave it this way

Understandable. I haven't had to deal with such waves yet myself, but I wonder if my LJ's not considered too much of a "backwater" to bother with.

My Blogspot "artblog", though? That gets targeted 3-4 times a week.

Suspecting that such does not qualify as "truly impressive", however.

Yeah, I guess my version of "truly impressive" is like, five spams a day, which is a lot more than it used to be! They'd key on things like the Springsteen entry (or any other with a popular reference) and hit it over and over. I'm logged into my other account on my phone so I'd have to get to a computer to clear them. Nobody but me could see the messages, but I found them really annoying!

I assume I'll fall off their radar again soon and it'll be safe to change back to my old policy, but having drawn their attention it seemed like the best idea for me was to lock the door for a while!

Sorry to hear about the spam problems. :( I've not had any spam issues but then my journal isn't really that popular.

Speaking of Flashpoint, are you still watching? The first episode of the season left me in tears, and the second was such an amazing ride. I'd missed the show a lot and am so glad to see it back!

I had a rush of it after the Springsteen show. I think after the spambots find one popular keyword in your journal, they just keep hitting it, at least for a while.

I'm still watching, and in fact my first post of the day was about the new season!
