I'm convinced your horse is a role model for all horses everywhere. What a sweetheart.

Aw, thanks. She really is a good girl. Even if last night she was more Jayne Mansfield than Audrey Hepburn!

Aw, Mitzi. :)

Faran is a "good heat" mare. She gets a little more forward (which brings her closer to "average" in forwardness) and grows a work ethic.

We're both pretty lucky with our girls, aren't we? Because I have heard some things...

Well I don't know if I'd count that as lucky for me since real luck would be if she was actually great most of the time, and even better when she was in heat. :P

But OTOH, I'd take this any day over the ones that are inconsolably sensitive when in heat. That's no fun for all involved.

I have heard things, too, but never observed them. Slightly more touchy, less happy about leg pressure behind the girth, crabbier (or more snuggly) while grooming, occasionally wound up especially young mares or first season in spring - yes. Nightmares... no. I learnt to ride in a yard that had a lot of mares, and we never experienced much evidence of 'mareishness'.

Crumble was a lot more 'mareish' than most mares I've known.
