Dear Mum,

School is fine. What do you mean, Petunia's still not feeling well? She just sent me a letter a couple of days ago, and she said that I shouldn't worry- that it's really unlikely that she's got TB she's sick. How long does she have to be monitored for? When will they know for certain?

No, I've been feeling fine. And I went to Madam ( Read more... )

There was been a outbreak of a disease - it's called tuberculosis during the summer where Petunia works. And they, the doctors, think that Petunia has it- but Mum says she wouldn't admit it and see a doctor until she was coughing up blood.

*bites her lip* It's not fatal- not nowadays because they have medication for it. But she's still going to be really sick for a long time.

*pulls a face, pressing one hand to his throat as he imagines coughing up blood*

Oh, Lily. I'm really sorry.

*leans a little closer to her, whispers*
Would you like me to give Regulus a smack?

*looking at the ground, voice trembling a little* Thanks, Rabastan.

*takes a deep breath, and looks up*

*tiny smile* And if you want to- he definitely deserves one. But don't get in trouble over it.

Perhaps Petunia is going to die?

NO! She's not dying and you're horrid for even suggesting that, Regulus!

How can you know? She might be dying slowly and painfully right now. I hear that's what happens with- *wrinkles his nose* -muggle diseases.

*stamps her foot*

*sharply* She's not dying! And wizards used to get tuberculosis, before they developed a potion for it, so it's not just a muggle disease, it was a wizarding one too.

You know, if you wanted, I could probably manage an illicit trip down there.
*grins charmingly*
Just you and me. To visit your ill sister. Doesn't that demonstrate what a thoroughly decent bloke I am?

*dryly* Thanks Potter, but I think that I'll pass up that trip. And you can demonstrate your thoroughly decentness here in school before I'll believe it.
