Mum!

Another Howler? Why!? I haven’t even had enough time to get into trouble again!

I was just joking about going on another adventure with Bellatrix Black. Really! I was just writing it in code to see if you Oliver could read it. Obveeosly Obviosly Clearly I need to make the code much harder easier since you could read he needed you to ( Read more... )

:shuffles up, hands in pockets:

Shit, Ed...sorry about the Howler. I'm alway so grateful my Mum has no idea what they are...

*fumes slightly*
I just can't believe my mum knew how to read the part of Oliver's letter that I wrote in code!
*shakes his head*
But it's okay, Len...
*grins impishly*
After the first one, they sort-of lose their impact...

So you've never gotten a Howler, huh?

:tuts, shaking her head:

You secret agents :Grins:

Mum's a muggle, ain't she? So she hasn't got any idea...

Hi! Are you ever about on IM? I love the relationships that are developing between Len and Ted and Edgar and I'd love to have a chat about some of the details at some point?

Well, I can't just have all my secrets out their for everyone to read, you know! Some things are just for Oliver's eyes!

*smiles*
Sounds like a definite advantage to have a mum who's a muggle.

*winks*
Have you done many things that would deserve getting a Howler, Len?

Yes, yes! I'd love to chat about Len, Ted, and Edgar's friendship some time! I'm not regularly on IM, but I could certainly plan to be at a specific time -- just let me know when! I'm usually available after 8 PM EST on weeknights (except Thursdays) and the closer to midnight, the more likely I am to be around. Plus, unless I'm working, I'm usually around on the weekends throughout the day. Would any of those times work for you?

*sighs*

Maybe you should just write about the weather next time.

*flails a bit*
But I can't just write about the weather! I promised I would write to Oliver about everything and he wants to know about the good parts!

*scoffs*
And the weather's not a good part!!

Yes but "Dear Oliver, the weather here continues fine." won't have your mother sending you a howler.

I agree that the weather isn't a good part; but *shrugs* it's better than being embarrassed in front of the whole school again.

*nearly shouting*
I wasn't embarrassed this time! After all, I haven't done anything wrong!
*grumbles*
If anyone should be embarrassed it should be my mum for falsely accusing me...
*shrugs*
And besides... at least this Howler was shorter than the last...

So... Where should we go to practice our shield spells?

Another Howler? Your mum really loves shouting at you, I guess.

And practically everyone knows that code! We'll have to find a really good one to get it past your mum.

*exasperated*
But I didn't think my mum fell into the "practically everyone" category!! I mean, really, when did she learn it?!

*glances around*
*motions for Ted to come closer*
*lowers his voice*
But between you and me... I'm working on a new code to write to Oliver with... Rearranging letters and stuff like that...
*nods quickly*
I think it'll be much better than this old code...

orlanstamos February 22 2006, 05:47:27 UTC
She learned it when she was little probably. Pig Latin's a lot like riding a bicycle, you never forget about it.

*eyes light up and he grins, nodding*
That's a real good idea. But if your mum sees a lot of nonsense in letters, she's going to know that you're writing in code.
Oooh! Hey! What if you put the real answer in the misspellings in a letter? That way, it'll look like a real letter with bad spelling, but it'll be a code too!

*huffy*
Sometimes I don't think my mum was ever little! She's not much fun!

*shrugs*
Yeah, but even if she knows it's a code, she still have to work it all out...
*eyebrows shoot upward*
Misspellings? What do you mean? Can you show me on a scrap of parchment?
