Bellatrix Black 6 September 1965

Dear Father,

Now that the fiasco of the beginning of the year is behind us, I have some rather amusing news for you. I don't know if you remember; but at the beginning of 6th year all students have a 'Career Advice' meeting with their Heads of House. I know you think Slughorn is a toady and a fool, but I can't avoid seeing him. He makes my skin ( Read more... )

When I grow up, I want to work in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, just like my Aunt Amelia. What do you want to be when you grow up, Bella?

*frowns*

Don't you think you should take the career advice a bit more seriously? Aren't you a bit worried about having a good resume' and all that?

Well, I'm sure the Department of Magical Law Enforcement will need a clever girl like you.

I want what my Father feels is best for me, of course. He says that tutoring would be a good option until I get married.

As I am currently battling it out with Malandra Bragge for top of our year, and with my family connexions, I really have no concerns at all about my prospects.

*blushes*
That's sweet of you to say.

Is there a particular subject that you would tutor people in? Or just everything in general? I need help in Potions...

I'm sure with your brains and genes you will have everything you want.

I'd be glad to brainwash help you with your Potions, Susan. Just say where and when.

Tsk, tsk...

You should consider becoming an Auror, Bella. We would have so much fun together. Can you imagine? We could be a team... going on stakeouts together and such.

*raises a bemused eyebrow*

Somehow, I get the feeling that your idea of 'staking something out' is very different than the one in the Official Aurors Handbook.

I'm not complaining, mind... Just an observation.

Mulder and Scully look out! It's Shacklebolt and Black! This has so bred a major plot bunny! :)

Well, one can't go by the book alone...

Do you know how to do a proper stakeout? Do they teach you that at Death Eater camp? I can show you, if you don't know.

*dies* I would DIE for a Kingsley/Bella fic

How true. Improvisation is the key to success.

As a matter of fact, they do! I'm sure the methods are very similar. But I'd love to get together sometime and discuss techniques with you.

Death Eater Camp?! *dies* Sounds like something The Addams Family would send their kids to!

I see it as sort of post-apocalyptic/ Mad Max kinda thing. I don't see them working together any other way.

An Auror!? You're so much better than that.

Slughorn is a fool. I can't imagine him giving career advice. He's pathetic.

Thank you, my dear!

Pathetic indeed!

But with a name like that, what can you expect!

Well, I was just joking with the Slug. He's so easy to manipulate; it's really not worth the effort. No matter how entertaining it is.

What sort of career are you going to have then, if everything's all picked already? It must be neat to know what you're going to do when you're all grown up.

It certainly frees the mind to concentrate on more important matters when ones future has been decided.

I'm not looking for a career. Just something to keep me occupied.

Did you get to help your dad pick out what you want to do? 'cause I know I'd want to help decide, if it were me.

Well, what's going to keep you occupied, then? It's not stamp collecting or anything dull like that, is it? You could work at the library. That's what my Mum does when Dad's at work and me an' Julie are at school.

*looks mildly astonished*

My Father is a very wise and clever man. He only wants what's best for me.

I'm involved with numerous organisations. I have many demands on my time.

The very idea of a Black working...

*shudders and pulls a face*
