Mun: How does your character deal with losing someone close to them?Rose will deal and move on but she hates that aspect of her life. If she could change it she would. The prime example of that is her father's death. It wasn't like Rose had planned to save his life. She really did just want to be there with him when he died like she told the Doctor ( Read more... )

I don't believe Rose spent her time trying to get back to the Doctor either. That's not just selfish, it suggests Rose has no life without him, which would be doing her character a terrible disservice.

That's one of my biggest peeves of fanfic, actually. I agree, it does her character a disservice. I love Rose's faults, and she has many of them, but that level of selfishness isn't one, imho.

I felt horrible that Rose made a cannon to shoot her and then it became all about the Doctor and all her talk about how she wanted to get back to him irked the hell out of me.

If she'd been 'Hey, trying to save the multiverse here' and then, 'Oh, there's you' with the Doctor and 'Never going to leave now', I would have bought it, but that wasn't the way it was written.

I interpreted it to know that once the fabric of reality starting going, Rose knew that the only person that would know how to fix it would be the Doctor so they put all the resources of Torchwood to finding a way into that reality. I think that's why she went to Donna in Turn Left. All the time lines converged on her so Rose figured Donna and the Doctor was the solution to the problem. I never saw it as Rose just going after the Doctor but once she found him there was no way she was going to not stay with him. Until he told her that she was needed with 2.0. That's just my interpretation of the events. *g*

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D
