The idea of Spain sounds a good one,but if i am not mistaken, isn't Spain part of the EC and under the same constraints of unelected beaurocrats as we are. Mind you they don't have to put up with Blair and his morons,sucking up to the warmongering US regime.Nor having to deal with over the top imcreases in council tax and fuel bills,when wages do not increase to match it. I suppose that in some respects it is a case of the grass looks greener on the other side until you get there. Or perhaps i am a cynic?

The EU tentacles do not exert the same influence over Spanish legislation and administration - it's a fact. Ros and I attended a BBQ party in June with 14 expats (7 couples). In comparing tax/utility spend it became evident that their outgoings (believe it or not) were about one tenth that of ours. Our retirement fund would stretch much further in rural Spain but it's unlikely to happen because Ros is not keen. I've had my rant for the week - back to business!
