I managed to take some 'me time' today and travelled over to Birling Gap, now owned and operated by the National Trust. That was me - and five coach loads of tourists, which I wasn't expecting so late in the season! I was only away for three hours during which time my lovely neighbour, Amelia, came and administered to Riley ( Read more... )

So glad you managed some time out. As you get less mobile, it's too easy just to stay at home, says One Who Knows. You are lucky in your kind neighbour.

I was getting 'stir crazy' - understandable as I look after Riley. But it was lovely to get away, just for a while - and yes, Amelia is a treasure.

I agree. As getting around gets harder, you really feel confined, sometimes. Hope

things are going well for Riley .

Thanks 0 he has been on his meds now for 33 days and, whilst his overall demeanour has improved, I think he has lost more weight. The vet is coming again next Wednesday to take more bloods :-( to run his T4 levels again. It's just days of anxiety...

The white cliffs seen in my photo are in Sussex - about 50 miles west of the White Cliffs of Dover, which are in the county of Kent. There never have been 'bluebirds over the...' not a species we have in Europe.

you broke my hope,
boy, have we been misled by the romantics
no bluebirds, white cliffs everywhere..
but burling gap looks so lovely and lonely
is that a white throat hiding in the twigs?

how far are you from East Dean Pond via Crowlink to the coast at Gap Bottom (Seven Sisters Cliffs)?
here's a great post i found of the area with lots of wildlife

and the biggest question i have, is there a coffeehouse nearby?

thanks for the tour!

Bluebirds are very much a North American species, I'm afraid. The bird in my photo is a fledgling House Sparrow of which there were many at Birling Gap. I am located about 20 miles from East Dean Pond.

There is a coffeehouse at Birling Gap - see my photos.

You needed that. Being stuck at home all the time can be dispiriting.
