This was an adorable installment to your growing collection of Wayne/Hal fics. I'm really happy you decided to expand on some of those prompts, and this was great one to start with. I always wondered how they would act on that faithful day; or just in general how someone would act on their first day out of jail after a time like Hal's.. This didn't disappoint. Love the effortless way you made Hal both his normal cocky self while at the same time being a very nervous guy in someone else's home. And the bro-hug? So great. Such a treat to see this pop up on the Comm!

In the end--- and in defiance of all common sense--- they both somehow manage to clean their plates. They then proceed to stare at each other in helpless agony across the dinner table, leaning back gingerly to ease the pressure on their over-full stomachs.

“Unnngh,” Wayne groans. “Why did we do that?”

“Because we could,” Hal tucks his hands behind his head, his cigarette bobbing up and down with the words. “That’s the best reason.”

This is the best little section in the whole damn fic. Oh my god. Colonel, you utter bastard, y u so awesome????

I love how worried Hal is about this blowing up in his face, and the subs, and the ashtray. And Wayne. And how lonely he is and how he's trying to sort of downplay that fact. They're both so sad. They need each other. If only because they're sad and don't even realize how sad they are until they look at the other one.

Oh Wayne, vulnerable silly Wayne. This is a great moment to illustrate because it really does give so much about both of their characters. Wayne is clearly falling for him. He's nervous. He's trying to protect him from the press. He buys him a gift of an expensive ash tray.

And Hal craving the reassurance of being close, feeling out of place in Wayne's home, appreciating the gesture of an awesome kick-ass sandwich because Wayne remembered his fondest hope and because dude, bacon.

Ugh so much feeling even when they aren't saying or doing anything explicitly. These two make me meltey. So so meltey.

And I would totally kill for some porn with these two. Can I bribe you with anything to make my dreams come true?

Awww, I'm so glad that you were able to get such strong pictures of both characters. It's something I particularly enjoy about this pairing, trying to find the balance between the two of them. ^_^

Saying that you portray their characters well is no longer enough. Colonel, you own these two. You are totally the master of both their personalities. I could single out a few favorite moments, like Wayne's inner monologue right at the beginning and Hal's sudden fear of encountering Roxanne, but those are just slight wave peaks in a general sea of awesome. May your keyboard never fail you.
