Oh man, I've been dying to see Oz since it first premiered, but I didn't have HBO at the time, and now ... well, I don't think hubby would enjoy it. Or would he? He liked crime shows, and isn't homophobic (although he's not all ho-yay either).

I went out and bought the first season of Dexter, and it's still sitting in it's wrapper on the counter. (for over a year.) I don't really watch tv when it's up to me.

I prefer reading/writing/drawing/music. I end up watching lots 'viscerally' since everyone else in the house is addicted to it. Hence my Phineas and Ferb obsession. :D

Anyhoo, lovely fic. I too, think he'd be called Blue. And as was said above, the characters were clear and concise, despite my not being familiar with them in canon.

oh, and I mentioned Shawshank Redemption in my latest fic! Great minds think alike. :D Such a great book/film.

The Beecher/Keller love story is but one of many plotlines on Oz! I always compare the show to a Shakespearean tragedy, both in terms of scope (huge cast with an extremely complex web of power dynamics) and tone (recurring themes of revenge and redemption). I'd recommend it to anybody with a strong stomach--- it can get extremely violent and gruesome at times. If you don't mind the occasional carnage, I think you'd really enjoy it, Tripp. XD

Thanks very much! I always thought "Blue" felt like the most natural name to be given to him by his prison uncles, since it's probably one of the only things that everybody could agree on, haha.

Shawshank Redemption is the pinnacle of all prison stories!! Even when writing for Oz -- a remarkable prison story unto itself -- I had to call out to the best one of all. :D

Okay, now that I've actually SEEN Oz (I"m partway through season four ... Beecher's kids have been kidnapped and he thinks it's Keller....) i can read this story with some CONTEXT.

Truth be told, I put Tobias Beecher in the search engine here, hoping for some good smutty Beecher/Keller, but alas, I couldn't find any in English. *cries* This fic came up and I thought HEY! I should give it another go.

When I first read this I had pictured the guy who plays Shillinger (since he's in Megamind) as one of the two, assuming most likely it was Beecher. i don't think i could have been more wrong! Now that I know better, and can put faces to the names, I think you wrote them both very well.

I think my fav mental image (aside from yanno, all the gay sex) was Blue and Cyril playing tag and having a great time together. <3

Haha, aww, that's so cool that you came back to give it another spin! And I'm very glad to hear that the characters still hold strong now that you know them. I used to RP Keller against a very talented Beecher, and I just looooove the way they talk!! I think one of the strongest things about OZ as a show is the very distinctive language, like its own dialect. So much fun to write for.

Yessssss, Blue and Cyril running around in total glee while the three "grown-ups" kind of jog around laughing awkwardly. XD

JUST FOR YOU, because you are my special smut buddy--- I went hunting for my favorite old OZ fics. These left a huge impression on me and even helped me develop my own writing style (I adore what she does with the stream-of-thought present tense format), and I think you'll quite enjoy them. She does absolutely amazing things with the Beecher character, and her stuff focuses on the Beecher/Keller/Schillinger triad, which is shamelessly my favorite facet of the show.

...oh yeah, and the fics are fucking hot. ;D
